As a Host, you set the tone for the Customer’s experience at Trackside through your personal appearance, demeanor and attitude towards our Guests. It is our Hosts who create the welcoming environment for our visitors.


Good communication skills are a must. Your teamwork with other team members is essential to the function of the restaurant. You must be able to anticipate the Guest’s needs, as well as communicate those needs to the appropriate service team members. This position requires the ability to work both as a team member and independently.


Due to the nature of our business, this position requires availability to work weekends and holidays.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for greeting Guests promptly in a friendly manner, making a positive first impression, making eye contact with a warm smile, using names wherever possible (VIP)
  • Escort Guests to tables, identifying their needs and building a customized connection.
  • Exhibits an outgoing personality and promotes a warm, inviting atmosphere.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with Guests, other service team members and management.
  • Ability to handle crowds and put Guests at ease.
  • Manages large parties, explaining seating options, availability and wait times, addressing Guest questions and concerns.
  • Monitor which tables are in use, which tables are available, and anticipate which tables will shortly become available, checking for completeness of reset before seating a new party.
  • Answer phone calls with: “Hello, thank you for calling Trackside. My name is _____, how may I help you?”
  • Light torches outside at main entrance
  • Sweep the front entrance and keep glass doors clean.
  • Maintain menus cleanliness, ensuring that the proper menus are being used, discarding menus in poor condition, ensuring replacements are available, and reporting shortage of menus in a prompt manner.
  • Helps maintain the dining areas by clearing and resetting tables, bringing dishes to the kitchen to be washed, sweeping the floors, performing restroom checks for adequate supplies and cleanliness, restocking when necessary.
  • Must practice safe food and beverage handling and cleanliness at all times.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with team members in a fast paced, high stress environment.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Trackside attendance policy.
  • Attend all required trainings and meetings.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance by following the Trackside Host Dress Code requirements.
  • Have complete knowledge of the floor plan, table numbers and stations.
  • When Guests are leaving, thank them for coming, using names wherever possible (VIP)


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 6 months of experience as a Host or similar preferred
  • Fluent in English
  • Strong knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures in a restaurant setting.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to make effective decisions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Exhibits teamwork at all times
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Lifts 10 lbs constantly, up to 25 lbs frequently, up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Lifting from the floor to shoulder occasionally and overhead frequently
  • Exposed to cleaning products
  • Color and depth perception required for vision. Needs both near and far sight
  • Twists and reaches constantly
  • Grasps objects to move and manipulate constantly
  • Stands and walks constantly inside and outside of the restaurant
  • Listen to and comprehend instructions from guests and team members over background restaurant and equipment and noise constantly
  • Frequent hand washing required
  • Ability to be mobile on your feet for a minimum of 6 hours EQUIPMENT USAGE REQUIREMENTS
  • iPad, computer/POS (Point of Sale), desk supplies, telephone, bus tubs, trays, tables, chairs, high chairs, coffee maker, soda gun, water pitcher, ice buckets, glass rack, dish machine, garbage cans, food products


WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Typical restaurant environment, heat and air conditioning, cold in freezer and walk in refrigerator.
  • May experience sudden changes in temperature while seating guests outside or performing opening procedures


Teamwork is the key to our business’s success. Hosts are expected to work with other Hosts as a team, communicating with other service members including Servers, Food Runners, Bartenders and Managers. During service, here are some things you can do to promote that teamwork:

  • Communicate with your team with respect, providing pertinent information you feel affects the Guest’s experience.
  • Communicate with Management if there are any issues that may affect the Guest’s experience.
  • If you see something is not in the correct place, or needs to be done, fix it without having to be asked to do so.
