As a Busser, you are responsible for clearing and cleaning tables, pre-bussing, providing refills, and stocking service stations. Bussers have a part in guaranteeing a high-quality dining experience by maintaining a clean and inviting environment and assisting the servers in a timely and accurate manner. It is our Bussers who ensure our restaurant is run smoothly. Good communication skills are a must. Your teamwork with other team members is essential to the function of the restaurant. This position requires the ability to work both as a team member and independently. Due to the nature of our business, this position requires availability to work weekends and holidays. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Exhibits an outgoing personality and promotes a warm, inviting atmosphere.
  • Safely handles smallware including plates, bowls, silverware (forks, knives, spoons), bringing bar-specific glasses back to the bar, etc.
  • Ability to quickly turn tables by clearing all dishes, food remnants, returning high chairs to host section, placing condiments back into the caddy and refilling them as needed, and wiping tables and chairs before the next group of guests is sat at the table
  • Sweeping the floors both inside and outside the restaurant
  • Running the dishwasher as necessary
  • Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with Guests, other service team members and management
  • Ability to interact and communicate with team members in a fast paced, high stress environment.
  • Must practice safe food and beverage handling and cleanliness at all times.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Trackside attendance policy.
  • Attend all required trainings and meetings.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance by following the Trackside Busser Dress Code requirements
  • Have complete knowledge of the floor plan, table numbers and stations.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Fluent in English
  • Relies on experience and judgment to make effective decisions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Lifts 10 lbs constantly, up to 25 lbs frequently, up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Lifting from the floor to shoulder occasionally and overhead frequently
  • Exposed to cleaning products
  • Color and depth perception required for vision. Needs both near and far sight
  • Twists and reaches constantly
  • Grasps objects to move and manipulate constantly
  • Stands and walks constantly inside and outside of the restaurant
  • Listen to and comprehend instructions from guests and team members over background restaurant and equipment and noise constantly
  • Frequent hand washing required
  • Ability to be mobile on your feet for a minimum of 6 hours


EQUIPMENT USAGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bus tubs, ice buckets, glass rack, dish machine, garbage cans


WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Typical restaurant environment, heat and air conditioning, cold in freezer and walk in refrigerator.
  • May experience sudden changes in temperature while seating guests outside or performing opening procedures


Teamwork is the key to our business’s success. Line Cooks are expected to work with other Line Cooks as a team, communicating with other service members including Bussers, Servers, Bartenders, Hosts and Managers. During service, here are some things you can do to promote that teamwork:

  • Communicate with your team with respect, providing pertinent information you feel affects the Guest’s experience.
  • Communicate with Management if there are any issues that may affect the Guest’s experience.
  • If you see something is not in the correct place, or needs to be done, fix it without having to be asked to do so.
