Bartender Position Description

As a Bartender, you are responsible for delivering a fun and satisfying dining experience to guests and ensuring guests receive menu suggestions, food and drinks in a timely accurate manner. It is our Bartenders who create customized experiences for each of our guests while upholding the Trackside standards of service.
Good communication skills are a must. Your teamwork with other team members is essential to the function of the restaurant. You must be able to anticipate the Guest’s needs, as well as communicate those needs to the appropriate service team members. This position requires the ability to work both as a team member and independently.
Due to the nature of our business, this position requires availability to work weekends and holidays.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for greeting Guests promptly in a friendly manner, making a positive first impression, making eye contact with a warm smile, using names wherever possible (VIP)
- Prepare cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages for guests per the Trackside signature cocktail recipes
- Follow Trackside Steps of Service
- Must have knowledge of both common drinks and Trackside Signature Cocktails, with the ability to make recommendations to guests
- Must observe Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board service guidelines and maintain a current RAMP Training certificate
- Monitor bar inventory and takes appropriate action to ensure adequate supply
- Preps mixers, and garnishes, washes and cuts produce
- Input orders into the POS terminal accurately, handle cash, make change, and process credit card transactions
- Must be able to read and organize tickets
- Must be able to maintain clean and sanitary work station, equipment, blenders, coffee pots, and perform glass washing
- Safely handles service equipment such as knives, coffee maker, soda guns, etc.
- Completes required side work in a timely manner, and perform light restaurant cleaning duties
- Perform guest services by taking orders, serving food, and beverages to guests promptly
- Ability to transport food from kitchen to appropriate guest
- Exhibits an outgoing personality and promotes a warm, inviting atmosphere.
- Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with Guests, other service team members and management
- Ability to interact and communicate with team members in a fast paced, high stress environment
- Ability to handle full bar with both service tickets and drink orders simultaneously
- Answer phone calls with: “Hello, thank you for calling Trackside. My name is _____, how may I help you?”, taking To Go Orders as necessary, and answering questions and assisting guests
- Must practice safe food and beverage handling and cleanliness at all times.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Trackside attendance policy.
- Attend all required trainings and meetings
- Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance by following the Trackside Bartender Dress Code requirements
- Have complete knowledge of the food menus, drink menus, floor plan, table numbers and stations
- Be able to explain menu items and terms and provide suggestions to guests when asked
- Assists Server and concierge whenever necessary
- When Guests are leaving, thank them for coming, using names wherever possible (VIP)
OTHER FUNCTIONS
- Other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor on duty
- Must adhere to company uniform and appearance policy
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
- RAMP Training Certification
- Ability to memorize food and drink menus
- 1 year of experience as a Bartender or similar preferred
- Fluent in English
- Strong knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures in a restaurant setting.
- Relies on experience and judgment to make effective decisions

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Lifts 10 lbs constantly, up to 25 lbs frequently, up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Lifting from the floor to shoulder occasionally and overhead frequently
- Exposed to cleaning products
- Color and depth perception required for vision. Needs both near and far sight
- Twists and reaches constantly
- Grasps objects to move and manipulate constantly
- Stands and walks constantly inside and outside of the restaurant
- Listen to and comprehend instructions from guests and team members over background restaurant and equipment and noise constantly
- Frequent hand washing required
- Ability to be mobile on your feet for a minimum of 6 hours
EQUIPMENT USAGE REQUIREMENTS
- iPad, computer/POS (Point of Sale), desk supplies, telephone, bus tubs, trays, tables, chairs, high chairs, coffee maker, soda gun, water pitcher, ice buckets, glass rack, dish machine, garbage cans, food products, blenders, bar equipment.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- Typical restaurant environment, heat and air conditioning, cold in freezer and walk in refrigerator.
- May experience sudden changes in temperature while seating guests outside or performing opening procedures
Teamwork is the key to our business’s success. Bartenders are expected to work with other Bartenders as a team, communicating with other service members including Servers, Food Runners, Hosts and Managers. During service, here are some things you can do to promote that teamwork:
- Communicate with your team with respect, providing pertinent information you feel affects the Guest’s experience.
- Communicate with Management if there are any issues that may affect the Guest’s experience.
- If you see something is not in the correct place, or needs to be done, fix it without having to be asked to do so.
