As a Food Runner, you are responsible for facilitating collaboration between our guests and wait staff. It is our Food Runners who ensure our guests have a high-quality dining experience by bringing food orders to the guest’s table or bar seat in a timely and accurate manner.


Good communication skills are a must. Your teamwork with other team members is essential to the function of the restaurant. You must be able to anticipate the Guest’s needs, as well as communicate those needs to the appropriate service team members. This position requires the ability to work both as a team member and independently. Due to the nature of our business, this position requires availability to work weekends and holidays.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Performs guest services by delivering food orders from the kitchen to the guest rapidly, accurately, and following the standards set by the restaurant
  • Exhibits an outgoing personality and promotes a warm, inviting atmosphere
  • Must be able to read and organize tickets
  • Safely handles food trays, tray stands, expo garnishments and sauces
  • Completes required side work in a timely manner, and perform light restaurant cleaning duties
  • Acts as a contact person between Front of House staff and Back of House staff
  • Assists Host, Busser, and concierge when needed
  • Ability to transport food from kitchen to appropriate guest by utilizing food trays
  • Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with Guests, other service team members and management
  • Ability to interact and communicate with team members in a fast paced, high stress environment.
  • Must practice safe food and beverage handling and cleanliness at all times.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Trackside attendance policy.
  • Attend all required trainings and meetings.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance by following the Trackside Food Runner Dress Code requirements
  • Have complete knowledge of the food menus, floor plan, table numbers and stations


OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • Other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor on duty
  • Must adhere to company uniform and appearance policy


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 6 months experience as a Food Runner or similar position preferred
  • Fluent in English
  • Strong knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures in a restaurant setting.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to make effective decisions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Exhibits teamwork at all times
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to balance a full food tray
  • Ability to memorize the food menus
  • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Attention to detail, cleanliness and safety
  • Patience and customer-oriented approach

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Lifts 10 lbs constantly, up to 25 lbs frequently, up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Lifting from the floor to shoulder occasionally and overhead frequently
  • Exposed to cleaning products
  • Color and depth perception required for vision. Needs both near and far sight
  • Twists and reaches constantly
  • Grasps objects to move and manipulate constantly
  • Stands and walks constantly inside and outside of the restaurant
  • Listen to and comprehend instructions from guests and team members over background restaurant and equipment and noise constantly
  • Frequent hand washing required
  • Ability to be mobile on your feet for a minimum of 6 hours


EQUIPMENT USAGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bus tubs, serving trays, , tray stands, tables, chairs, high chairs, glass rack, dish machine, garbage cans, food products


WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Typical restaurant environment, heat and air conditioning, cold in freezer and walk in refrigerator
  • May experience sudden changes in temperature while seating guests outside or performing opening procedures


Teamwork is the key to our business’s success. Food Runners are expected to work with other Food Runners as a team, communicating with other service members including Servers, Bartenders, Hosts and Managers. During service, here are some things you can do to promote that teamwork:

  • Communicate with your team with respect, providing pertinent information you feel affects the Guest’s experience.
  • Communicate with Management if there are any issues that may affect the Guest’s experience.
  • If you see something is not in the correct place, or needs to be done, fix it without having to be asked to do so.
